The Forest Hills Eastern Hawks hosted the Middleville Trojans on Friday night in an OK Gold battle. Forest Hills Eastern bounced back from their Week 5 defeat with an impressive display of offense. FHE captured a 45-23 win.
The Hawks defense was first on the scoreboard on Friday night, as they recorded a safety ninety seconds into the action. On the ensuing possession after the free kick, the FHE offense joined the party. Brendan Thompson aired it out, and he found Drew Patten for a 40-yard touchdown strike. This would be the lone scoring in the 9-0 advantage for the Hawks.
Middleville found the scoring column first in the second quarter. Braden Sharrar booted an impressive 37-yard field goal kick. Max Ferrick and FHE would answer, as he took the football on a 20-yard run to the end zone. Middleville would draw closer in the final minute of the half, as Jayden Garcia scored a 13-yard touchdown to bring the tally to 17-9 in favor of FHE at the break.
The third quarter saw Forest Hills Eastern pull away. They found the end zone on three separate occasions. First, Brendan Thompson found Collin Fridsma on an 18-yard toss. On their next drive, Bryson Kuzdzal powered across the goal line from a yard out. Finally, Thompson and Mac DenBraber paired up on a 28-yard touchdown. With twelve minutes to go, FHE led 38-9.
Middleville made it interesting with two straight touchdown drives. Grant Middleton and Kenneth Simon carried the football into the end zone to pull the Trojans within fifteen. They would never draw closer, as William Morgan iced it for the Hawks with a 36-yard touchdown run.
Forest Hills Eastern (5-1) will take on Cedar Springs next week. Middleville (2-4) will look to get back to the win column against Kenowa Hills.
