The Swan Valley Vikings and Bay City John Glenn Bobcats battled each other and the elements on Friday night. It was an absolute mud bowl, and neither team could score in the first four quarters. In overtime, a Swan Valley touchdown gave them a 6-0 victory.
In the first quarter, four possessions occurred, and there were three punts and a turnover on downs. The second quarter saw more of the same, with four punts, a fumble and a turnover on downs.
Coming out of the locker room, the defenses continued to dominate. The third quarter had three punts, a fumble, an interception and a turnover on downs. In the fourth quarter, there were two more punts. An absolute offensive snoozer went to the extra period.
Swan Valley got the ball first, and they scored on fourth down. Colton Klein was the hero, tossing the game-winning score. John Glenn got their chance, but they were unable to find the end zone, ending the game.
Swan Valley now sits at 4-4 on the season, with victories in four of the last five games. They will continue their battle for a playoff berth on Friday, when they face Hemlock. Bay City John Glenn is 3-5, and they will take on Lake Fenton in their finale.
