The Kelloggsville Rockets hit the road on Friday, setting sails for Eastern Michigan University, where they would face the Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard Fighting Irish. In a memorable night for everyone involved, the Rockets won 34-24.
Zach Zerfas, as he has many times this fall, anchored the Rockets’ offense. He finished 18/26 passing for 200 yards and two touchdowns. He added a third touchdown using his legs. Jabari Campbell was his primary target, as he hauled in 10 receptions for 89 yards and two touchdowns, as well as a two-point conversion.
Camron Townsend added 25 rushing yards, 32 receiving yards and an interception return for a touchdown. DeMarreon Rodriguez had 45 receiving yards, and 4 tackles. Brendan Tuinstra spearheaded a strong Kelloggsville rushing attack with 111 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Tuinstra added 34 receiving yards and 5 tackles.
Kelloggsville has now recorded back-to-back victories for the first time since September 2018, when they shutout Lee and Calvin Christian in consecutive games. This victory has guaranteed the Rockets their best season since 2018. They will go for a three-game winning streak next Friday, when they will face Godwin Heights. Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard will look to bounce back against Madison Heights Bishop Foley.
