The Wildcats of Northview hit the road, travelling to Greenville on Friday night. A strong second quarter helped Northview rack up a 42-0 shutout victory against the ‘Jackets.
In the opening frame, Northview scored once. Kinji Black powered across the goal line from 2 yards out. Da’Torian Roberts chipped in the two-point conversion on a run, giving the Wildcats an 8-0 lead.
The second quarter saw the Wildcats score four times. Kevin Landers booted a pair of field goals, bookending the scoring in this frame. He converted kicks of 22 and 32 yards. Easton Denton and Calvin Cuba paired up on a lengthy passing play, a 52-yard touchdown strike. The Wildcats’ defense provided the fourth scoring play, an interception return by Byron Buckner. This gave Northview a 27-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, the Wildcats scored twice, both in the third quarter. First, Donyea Robertson plunged into the end zone from two yards out. Robertson would also add a two-point conversion on another rushing play. Later in the frame, Jacob Szurna and Isaiah Buckner connected on a 71-yard touchdown strike, moving the game to its final 42-0 count.
Northview outgained Greenville 427-82 in this game. Jacob Szurna led the way with 237 passing yards on 9/18 completions. Donyea Robertson added 74 rushing yards on 17 attempts.
Next week, Northview (4-2) will take on Lowell in their next OK White battle. Greenville will look for their first victory when they take on East Grand Rapids.
