The “Battle of the Patriots” took place on Saturday afternoon, as Grand Valley Christian traveled to Indiana to face Calumet. It was an incredible back and forth shootout, with the Grand Valley Christian crew escaping with a 46-44 victory.

This game was back-and-forth throughout, with a 20-20 halftime tie. Lex Underhill had two rushing touchdowns for Grand Valley Christian. He also threw for four scores. One score was a remarkable tip play, that was intended toward Travis Reiser and caught by JaeShawn Hughes. Hughes also caught another touchdown intended in his direction. His other two passing scores found DeShawn Chaney and DJ Keyes.

JaeShawn Hughes and Kani McFarrin rushed for touchdowns, with runs of 2 and 10 yards respectively.

With this win, Grand Valley Christian is now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the GLCAC North. They will be back in action against the Fort Wayne King’s Crusaders, a crossover opponent who currently sits at 3-3 on the year. This game is set for Saturday at 6:00 PM. Grand Valley Christian is at home, playing at Skinner Field in Cedar Springs.
