The Whitehall Vikings suffered a tough opening loss in their WMC season last week, falling to Oakridge. This Friday, they had a matchup against another unbeaten team in Ravenna. The Bulldogs ultimately were no match for Whitehall, as the Vikings pitched a 42-0 shutout.
With one minute left in the first quarter, Whitehall took a 7-0 lead. Kyle Stratton took to the air and found Brodie Fogus for a 13-yard touchdown pass. Landon Howe booted the extra point through the uprights.
The Vikings would extend their lead with two more touchdowns in the second quarter. With just under five minutes to go in the half, Alec Pruett ran 20 yards for a score. In the final ninety seconds of the half, Whitehall scored again on a pass from Stratton to Fogus. Their 22-yard pass, paired with a kick from Howe, gave them a 21-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Whitehall doubled their margin with a trio of touchdowns. Nate Bolley got things started early in the third quarter with a 20-yard touchdown run. Later in the quarter, the Stratton-Fogus combo struck for the third time, as they connected on a 45-yard score. Alec Pruett wrapped up the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run.
Whitehall outgained Ravenna 405-157 in this game. The Vikings racked up 311 rushing yards, led by 155 from Alec Pruett on 20 carries. Kyle Stratton added 92 rushing yards, while also completing 6/9 passes for 94 yards. Brodie Fogus had four of those catches, tallying 80 yards in the process.
Kyle Beebe was 5/12 passing for 66 yards for the Bulldogs, and he led the team with 38 rushing yards on 8 carries. Drew Mabrito was Ravenna’s leading pass catcher with 33 yards on two receptions.
Next week, Whitehall will take on the Shelby Tigers. Ravenna will look to bounce back when they face Mason County Central.
