The Martin Clippers have had two extremely successful seasons in a row, with their only losses coming against eventual State Champions. An extremely talented program, Martin is poised for another stellar season in 2021. They proved that in their season opener against Tri-Unity, a commanding 56-0 victory.

JR Hildebrand, making his debut at Quarterback, put on quite the show. He scored four times in the first half, tallying 151 rushing yards on just six carries. Tagean Harris added 77 yards rushing on just four carries, including a touchdown run. In total, Martin turned 33 carries into 397 yards as a club, a truly dominant performance on the ground.

Defensively, Tanner Bird and Bryce Robinson led the teams with 6.5 tackles each. Sam Jager was a thorn in the Tri-Unity passing game with two interceptions. Martin’s defense held strong at the end of this game, as their goal line stand on the final drive preserved the shutout.

Coach Brad Blauvelt was pleased with his team’s performance. “We executed at a high level in all areas. Our offensive line was superior. Our young guys stepped up late in the game keeping them out of the end zone to complete the shut out. We are looking forward to the Fennville game this week.”

Martin will be back next week with their game against Fennville. Tri-Unity will square off against Blanchard Montabella.
