Basketball across the MSR coverage area was jam-packed with exciting matchups on Saturday. A summary of those contests:

Comstock Park 41 Holton 38: The Red Devils led by two at halftime, but an 11-0 lead by the Panthers to start the second half pushed them in front. Comstock Park led by seven after the third quarter, and Holton’s comeback attempt fell short. Shawn Foreman led CP with 10 points, while Aidan Poling (15) and Brodrick Fialek (12) finished in double-figures for Holton.

Frankenmuth 67 Flint Southwestern 33: The Eagles earned another victory on Saturday. Ben Reinert led the ‘Muth with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Riley Roy and Cole Jankowski had 13 points each.

GR Christian 70 Holland Christian 41: The Eagles move to 3-0 with a convincing win over the Maroons. Kobe Bufkin led all scorers with 24 points.

Hudsonville 56 Unity Christian 53: The “Salad City Classic” went to the Eagles, by three points. Davis Magsig (14) and Zac Baker (13) led Hudsonville, while Unity was led by Gabe Newhof (16 points).

Northview 61 Union 36: The Wildcats won the first game of the Red Hawk Showcase. Kyler Vanderjagt (Northview) and Da’Quin Freeman (Union) each scored 18 points.

Orchard View 92 Fremont 63: The Cardinals cruised to another victory, with Ke’ontae Barnes powering the offense. Barnes was 19/30 from the floor, finishing with 40 points. Jay Jay Tunstull (15) and Darius Williams (14) joined him in double-digits.

Reeths-Puffer 71 Whitehall 67: The Rockets bested the Vikings on Saturday in a battle of Muskegon County teams. Kaleb Mitchelson led Puffer with 22 points and 5 assists.

Rockford 61 Jenison 44: These two teams battled throughout the first three quarters, with Rockford holding a narrow lead entering the final frame. The Rams’ defense swarmed Jenison, creating some key turnovers to extend their lead. Sam Krist led the Rams with 15 points.

South Christian 54 Forest Hills Eastern 42: The Sailors trailed by seven at halftime, but they allowed just two field goals in the second half, rallying for a double-digit victory. Sam Meengs led the Sailors with 17 points, 14 of which came after halftime. Connor Dykema also added 17 for South, while Grant Lancaster led FHE with 10 points.

Sparta 69 Grant 43: The Spartans took down the Tigers on Saturday, behind 27 points from Connor West.

Wayland 51 Cedar Springs 36: The Wildcats earned their first OK Gold win, taking down Cedar to move to 1-2 on the year. Justin Holtz (18) and Matt Guppy (12) finished in double figures for Wayland, while Aiden Hovanec paced Cedar Springs with 12.

West Catholic 77 Kent City 47

Williamston 46 Forest Hills Northern 44: The second game of the Red Hawk Showcase saw the Hornets narrowly escape with a win over the Huskies. Jay Wallace paced Williamston with 15 points, while Trinidad Chambliss’ 14 points led FHN.

Allendale 47 Holland 30: The Falcons took down the Dutch on Saturday. Grace Rosser (15) and Hannah Schroeder (14) led Allendale in scoring.

East GR 73 Hudsonville 49: In a battle of two of the area’s best teams, the Pioneers flexed their muscle with a big victory. Jillian Brown led all scorers with 23, while Ali Carlson added 13 points to EGR’s tally. Alaina Diaz led Hudsonville with 15 points.

Gobles 38 Allegan 32: The Tigers topped the Tigers, behind a stellar performance by Amanda Barber. It was a career-high scoring night, as Barber finished with 22 points.

GR Catholic Central 40 Middleville 39

Hopkins 41 Northview 20: The Vikings doubled the Wildcats in their Saturday victory. Mady Weber (11) and Lexi Teunissen (9) led Hopkins in scoring.

Kenowa Hills 45 Ottawa Hills 28: The Knights scored 11-11-12-11 in each quarter, a nearly even dispersal of points throughout the ball game. Adrianna Marsiglia led Kenowa Hills with 15 points, while Haley Huckelberry scored 12. Ottawa Hills was led by Jayla Luckett (7 points).

Kent City 50 Hart 27: The Eagles racked up another victory, and it was another great day for Kenzie Bowers. She finished with 17, as Kent City nearly doubled up the Pirates.

Mona Shores 49 Wyoming 44: The Sailors and Wolves went back and forth throughout their Saturday afternoon matchup. In the end, a 10-6 fourth quarter edge for Mona Shores propelled them to victory. Riley Rosenthal led Mona Shores with 16 points, while Olivia Sobczak (13) and Jenna Tierman (10) joined her in double-digits. Taejah Cross led Wyoming with 12 points.

Newaygo 59 Shelby 31: The Lions topped the Tigers in a game at Cornerstone University. Newaygo took a 36-16 lead to the locker room, and they continued to build on that in the second half. Jaxi Long had 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Jaylee Long had 15 points and 8 assists. Newaygo as a team shot 52% from behind the arc.

Standish Sterling 67 Goodrich 38: The Panthers captured another victory by taking down the Martians on Saturday. Macey Fegan led the way with 28 points and 9 rebounds, while Elle Adrian added 14 points and 7 rebounds.
