The Hudsonville Eagles and East Kentwood Falcons both took last week away from the gridiron. As a result of their quarantine period, this game was pushed to Saturday. East Kentwood brought the early energy, but the Eagles responded with a dynamic offense that carried the team to a 52-14 victory.

East Kentwood scored all fourteen points in the first quarter of this game. They scored their first touchdown on a five-yard run by Carson Dunn. On their next drive, quarterback Branden Miller found the end zone on a short quarterback keeper.

Hudsonville responded with a fourteen-point swing in the second quarter. Brennan Hayes and Keaton Meduna connected on a short touchdown pass of seven yards. After a defensive stop, Trevor McEachern brought the Eagles back to even. Emmanuel Dieppa booted two extra points in this quarter.

Brennan Hayes’ stellar play continued in the third quarter. After a punt on their first drive, Hudsonville would score on four consecutive drives. Hayes got the first touchdown on a twelve-yard run. After an interception by the defense, Trevor McEachern rushed for a short touchdown. On Hudsonville’s next two drives, Hayes rushed for a pair of touchdowns (both from one yard).

With just under five minutes to go in the game, Emmanuel Dieppa booted a field goal of twenty-five yards. Hudsonville closed out the 52-0 scoring run with an interception return for a touchdown by Mason Dykstra.

Next week, Hudsonville will play in the district semifinals. They will travel to Rockford to take on the Rams. These two OK Red foes have not played this fall. Rockford defeated West Ottawa 41-7 in the first round of the playoffs.
