The Central Montcalm Hornets entered Friday with a 5-1 overall record and an unbeaten CSAA White mark. A win in either of their last two games against Lakeview and White Cloud would give them a share of the conference title in their inaugural campaign. A sweep of those foes would give them the outright league championship. After week 7 action, the Hornets accomplished the first of those goals, defeating Lakeview 54-6 to capture the share of the CSAA White championship.

This rout was one-sided from the start, with Central Montcalm scoring the opening two touchdowns. Emmett Lingeman used his arm for the first score, connecting with Jamison Johns on a 51-yard touchdown strike. That was quickly followed up by the first touchdown of the night from Asher Johnson, who scooped up a blocked punt before rumbling across the goal line.

Lakeview was able to halt the Hornets’ run with their own passing score. A failed conversion left the Wildcats down 10 points. This would be as close as Lakeview would get in this contest, as a flood of Central Montcalm scores were on its way.

In the second quarter, the victors created three touchdown drives. First, Emmett Lingeman took to the air once more, finding Brayden Peak on a 48-yard strike. Anthony Schultz would take over from there, reeling off 9 and 15 yard carries that crossed the goal line, giving Central Montcalm a comfortable 38-6 lead at halftime.

As the second half began, Lakeview attempted an onside kick to seize some momentum. That kick was errant, sailing into the hands of Asher Johnson, who ran 51 yards for a touchdown. Just seven seconds into the third quarter, a 46-6 lead triggered the running clock.

With time at a premium, just one more Central Montcalm touchdown drive took place. Johnny Rebollar bowled across the goal line from 2 yards out, giving the game its final 54-6 tally.

Next week, Central Montcalm (6-1) looks to defeat White Cloud to create an outright CSAA White championship season. Lakeview (2-5) steps out of league play for a game with Hemlock.
