Byron Center welcomed Northview to town for the OK White battle. The Bulldogs were able to score early, capturing a 42-20 victory.
The Northview defense got the Wildcats on the board early in this game. Julian Jenkins stepped in front of a Byron Center pass and raced to the end zone. Byron Center responded with five unanswered touchdowns.
Jason Sevigny raced to the end zone for the first score, a 37-yard touchdown. On the next scoring drive, Hunter Schichtel kept the football for a 2-yard score. This brought the score to 14-6 in favor of Byron Center after the first quarter.
Schichtel used his legs again early in the second quarter for a score. Sevigny’s second touchdown run gave the Bulldogs a 28-6 halftime advantage.
In the second half, both teams scored twice to keep the game at an identical 22-point margin. Schichtel kept the football for a third touchdown run, and Landon Tungate rumbled for a 3-yard touchdown. Donyea Robertson rushed for Northview’s touchdown, while Matt Toole and Jacob Szurna connected on a passing play.
Byron Center outgained Northview 341-285 in this game. The Bulldogs are now 5-2 on the season. Next week, Byron Center will take on Forest Hills Northern. Northview slides to 2-5. The Wildcats will look to bounce back against Greenville.
