The Forest Hills Northern Huskies were able to capture the equalizing victory on Friday night, moving their season record to 3-3. They bested in-conference foe Northview 24-8.
In the first quarter, FHN raced out to a hot start. Curt Andrews sprung free on a 78-yard touchdown sprint, giving the Huskies a 7-0 edge. During the frame’s final minute, Logan Hertstein doubled the lead with a 10-yard touchdown run.
Midway through the second quarter, Northview got on the board. Armaan Irving found Max Haveman for a 20-yard touchdown connection. The Huskies would answer late in the half, with a 26-yard field goal booted by TJ Silvernale. FHN took their 17-8 lead into the break.
In the second half, the lone scoring play came from Logan Hertstein. He bulldozed across the goal line from a yard out. This late third quarter touchdown extended the final margin of victory for the Huskies.
Forest Hills Northern (3-3) is still alive in the playoff race with this victory. They face East Grand Rapids next week, before closing with Byron Center and Forest Hills Central. They certainly face a challenge in front of them, but the opportunity is there. Northview (2-4) will take on Byron Center next week.
