The Kent City Eagles entered Friday night with four wins in CSAA-Silver play. They had just one league foe left, as they took on Lakeview in their conference finale. With the 50-7 victory, the Eagles claim the outright CSAA-Silver title, their fourth crown in five seasons.
In the first quarter, Kent City scored two touchdowns and added two conversions. They would increase their lead with their biggest offensive production, a twenty-two point second quarter. In the final two quarters, they scored six points in each to tally fifty points. In the fourth quarter, they yielded that lone touchdown.
The rushing attack for Kent City was potent in this game. Sophomore quarterback Kyler Larson rushed for 66 yards and one touchdown on 10 carries. Mason Westbrook rushed for 86 yards and 3 touchdowns on 9 carries. Webb Longcore rushed for 67 yards and 1 touchdown on 8 carries. Finally, Carter Milanowski rushed for 58 yards and one touchdown on 5 carries. This bunch tallied 277 of Kent City’s 342 total yards of offense.
Equally as impressive, the defense held Lakeview to less than 70 yards of total offense. The Eagles’ offensive stars also shone bright on defense. Larson returned an interception 61 yards for a touchdown playing safety for this defense. Mason Westbrook recorded six tackles, two for loss, and he also recovered a fumble. Webb Longcore made his own share of big defensive plays as well, recording three tackles for loss, an interception and a fumble recovery.
Now 5-0, Kent City will end its 2020 campaign with a contest against Orchard View.
