The Hudsonville Eagles appear to be a force to be reckoned with in the OK Red this fall. They defeated East Kentwood a week ago in a thriller, and they dominated Grand Haven in week two to the course of a 53-0 victory.
Hudsonville’s first two points came from the defensive front, as a botched punt snap led to a two-point safety for the Eagles. On the ensuing possession, Trevor McEachern plunged it in from a yard out to increase the lead to nine. Before the first quarter was done, Brennan Hayes tossed a thirty yard touchdown to Jackson Kok to make it 16-0 Hudsonville.
The second quarter saw the Eagles expand their lead even further with a pair of touchdown passes. Hayes and Dylan Ham connected twice for touchdowns, one from six yards and another from thirty-nine yards to give the Eagles a comfortable thirty point halftime lead.
Coming out of the locker room, the Eagles did not stop. In the opening minute, Hayes completed his fourth touchdown pass of the evening, this time to Eli VanderVeen on a forty-three yard play. After another safety by the Eagles defense, Devin Mervau burst a thirty-eight yard run to make it a 46-0 game.
The fourth quarter, with a running clock already in store, saw only one touchdown. Hudsonville got a touchdown from Brandon Lippenga from four yards out to push it to the final of 53-0.
The Eagles are now 2-0 on the year, and they have a giant test at home against Grandville next week. Grand Haven will look for their first win when they take on East Kentwood. Both of these games will be broadcast LIVE on Friday night.
