TEAM OUTLOOK

As Brent Cummings gears up for his sixth season, the Rockford Rams are looking forward to continued success following an 11-2 2023 season – a season that ended with a semifinals loss to Davison.

Heading into the 2024 campaign, the Rams will look to junior quarterback, Brayden Daniels (#11), to lead the offense. Showing toughness in at the end of the season as a sophomore, Daniels has honed his throwing skills and dedicated himself to improving every aspect of his game. Leading the big boys up front, the Ram offense will rely heavily on senior leaders, Dawson LaPlante (#50) and Nolan Miller (#74). Dawson has sets the high standard while, Nolan, has significantly enhanced his strength and power. Joining them is Zane Panchula (#69), a new addition to the line who has already impressed with his size, speed, and dedication to mastering his position.

Defensively, the Rams will look to three seniors to anchor the other side of the ball. It starts with Isaac Poot (#34), a dynamic playmaker, known for his explosive plays and leadership qualities. Also, Kade Friesen (#8), whose combination of power and speed makes him a standout at outside linebacker, and junior Sam Cummings (#0), who brings valuable experience and a keen football IQ, having learned alongside last year’s standout Ryan Ahern.

“Our goal this year is to narrow our focus on two things – continuous daily improvement and growth as a team while having fun. Football is an extremely fun game to play and coach. We intend to enjoy it. This year’s team is having a fun time during the summer workouts. We are excited to get even better in the fun and energy category,” says Head Coach Brent Cummings

With a coaching staff led by seasoned coordinators Randy VanderVeen and Jason VanderLaan, there is an emphasis on maintaining systems and refining strategies to build on last year’s success.
