Matt Koziak and the Mona Shores Sailors have proven to be one of the state’s elite over the past decade, winning multiple state titles and adding other deep playoff runs behind their version of the Ski-Gun pistol option offense.
Jonathan Pittman returns for his third season as the starting QB for the Sailors, and has grown into one of the area’s absolute best. Pittman is highly accurate and rarely turns the ball over in the pass game, and his big body and speed makes him extremely dangerous in the Sailors option run game. Tomarion Steward is as tough of a RB to tackle as you are going to find, measuring in at 6’0 and 215 lbs, Steward’s junior season is expected to be a big one. Jaeger Johnson and George Duggins will be the starting receivers, and bring a lot of skill to the table out wide when Shores decides to air it out, or get them involved in the option run.
The Sailors are stout on defense as well, Hunter Krueger is a highly dangerous defensive end that can create a ton of havoc getting into the backfield. Ja’mari Taylor alongside him at DT is also big and can shut down the run and create havoc along with Krueger up front. Senior MLB Soloman Robertson will lock things down in the middle of the defense. The Sailors also have some very good pieces at the top of the defense with the likes of George Duggins at safety and Corey Bothwell at corner.
