The Lowell Red Arrows have made the playoffs all five seasons under head coach Jacob Henige, and they move to the new River Cities Alliance in 2024, after the last several years in the gauntlet OK-White. This will be a year of a ton of turnover and youth, with only four returning starters from last year’s team on the roster.
Last year’s JV QB Logan Dawson will likely be called on to lead the offense this season, coach Henige highlighted that he’s had a great summer and is tracking toward the job as the season approaches. Nolan Compton will be a top target in the pass game, as the team’s top wideout target. Deacon Roth (G) and Casey White (T) will each be back to anchor the left side of the offensive line. Casey Engle will return as the starting RB, and the staff is expecting to possibly run the ball with him more this season. Brody Lehman and Grady Smith will be the new starting tight ends this season, with Lehman also playing a bit of a hybrid TE/WR role.
Three of those key returners on offense will also start on the defensive side of the ball with Compton at safety, Roth at DT, and Engle at linebacker.
On the whole, this will be a little more of an ‘old-school’ and hard-nosed throwback Lowell team, as the staff expects them to be more under center on offense and have a non-flashy and ‘gritty’ attack.
