Kenowa Hills will be a new-look team in 2024, as long-time area coach and 2012 state champion Don Fellows will take over the Knights program this season, as he looks to retool things at K.H. like what had been sparked in his first years at GR Union. The Knights made the playoffs every year from 2008 to 2012, but minus the COVID 2020 season when all teams qualified, they have not been back since, so the Knights will have a goal set to break that streak. The Knights also will move to the new Rivers Cities Alliance Conference to add on to the ‘new-ness’ surrounding the Knights.
One element that could aid in the turnaround coming off a a 3-6 2023 season is Don’s sophomore son Grayson, who will quarterback the team this season, after he began last season as the starter at GR Union, and then spent time at Catholic Central, before moving to Kenowa Hills with his dad for the 2024 season. Fellows is a highly-rated passer and one of the highest rated players at the position in his class in the state. One of Fellows top targets will be TE/WR Lachlin Acker, a 6’4 200 pound threat that has multiple D2 offers and will also play on the defensive side of the ball at DE. Sophomore speedster WR Will Fussman will also likely become a favorite target of his fellow sophomore QB. Stand out offensive lineman Jeremiah Richards will lead the way for the Knights, he weighs in at 285 pounds and 6’4.
On defense, two-way play out of Acker and Richards will be key on the defensive line with their size and experience. Behind them, Mitchell Nowak, a junior OLB will be key in a variety of roles in the middle of the defense.
