Holland Christian is seeking their first playoff appearance since 2020 and first playoff win since 2018 this season. And under third year HC Dave Abberger and his wide-open offensive attack, the Maroons may have the ingredients to do so, as they move to the newly reformed OK-Black division.
The Maroons will look to senior Evan Abberger, who sat behind now-Hillsdale QB Eli Boyce, and has a super talented mind and gunslinger approach that matches the Maroons system. Junior Simon Grotenhuis started at WR as a sophomore, but will see a ton more targets this season in the Maroons pass-heavy offense, after giving up his share to a lot of seniors in last year’s receiving core. The Maroon offensive line will be anchored by Alex Plockmeyer, a three year starter that has added on an additional 30 pounds headed into his senior campaign.
The defense will look to Will Grant at inside linebacker to replace the play of now-GVSU backer Ryder Gravenhof in the middle of everything, he’ll be joined by Gave Konfara to his side at outside linebacker. Safety Cole Meiste is a first-year varsity player in his junior season, but will be called on in a big way after having a really good offseason headed into his junior season.
