TEAM OUTLOOK

Coopersville has built themselves into one of the area’s most consistent contenders under eighth-year head coach Ed Kaman. And, with their dedication to toughness and physical play, plus several key returners from last year’s 8-3 team, the Broncos seem set to be one of the favorites to win the first ever River Cities Alliance Conference title in 2024, all as they celebrate the program’s 100th anniversary this season.

Coopersville graduated 19 players from a very experienced 2023 team, but they are able to bring back senior QB Beau Harris, Harris is a true dual threat, last year he threw for 13 passing TDs whole also using is big 6’2 frame to add in 12 more on the ground as a part of the Broncos physical running attack. The team replaces 4 offensive lineman from last year’s group – including now-Ohio State Buckeye Gabe VanSickle – But, it will be another D1-bound talent filling his shoes with the lone returner from last year’s line: 275 pound senior, J.J. Hirdes (Western Michigan commit) . The team does have other pieces, like Ben Burgess that filled in up front due to injuries that will be leading the way. Senior Isaac LeMieux (RB) and junior Brooks Hadden (WR) each also return from the 2023 team as leading weapons for the offense.

On defense, the team will rely on many of the key pieces on offense to also contribute here 0 Like Hadden at CB, Burgess and Hirdes on the line, and LeMieux at LB. Freshman Calvin Rossman (DE) and sophomores Hunter Hankamp and Jaydon Miller (DTs) will factor in as young talent to watch on the line. Tyler Terpstra is an experienced senior linebacker that returns to that spot to secure the middle of the defense.
