The Byron Center Bulldogs have made the playoffs for the past five seasons, and have been a constant threat for 16 seasons under head coach Marc Cisco. The Nebraska football alum, that played under legendary coach Tom Osborne has a ton of very key returners from a team that went 10-2, and all the way to the regional final last season – and may have an even deeper run in mind, after they deal with their new-look OK-Green conference, which will be one of the area’s toughest.
The Bulldogs feature a multi-faceted power-spread attack that has the ability to effectively move the ball in the pass, and power run game. Landon Tungate returns for his second season as the starter, and his fourth season up with the varsity team – Tungate is a true dual-threat with a ton of speed and accurate arm that completed just shy of 70% of passes last year. His favorite target from a year ago is also back in senior WR Isaac Lee, Lee who also starts on the basketball court has put a lot more focus on the gridiron this offseason, and the staff is expecting a huge leap from one of their already most productive players. Luke Laska, will again carry the duties at running back, something he has done all four years. Plus, add in the return of Jackson Bovia at LT and guard Ben Kitchen, the run game should fully be intact as well.
On defense, Landon Conrad returns after an all-conference season at safety in 2023. Nolan Stubblefield is a dangerous defensive end that will be in the middle of helping slow down a schedule of dynamic quarterbacks and rushing attacks – Combining non-conference and their newly aligned league look, the Bulldogs will see the likes of Muskegon, Mona Shores, Reeths Puffer, East Kentwood, and a pair of out-of-state powerhouses.
