The Freeland Falcons had a sort of setback in week seven. They would run into a Frankenmuth team who was looking to put things away early, and they did just that. This week, Freeland would show just what they’re made of when by responding in a big way over John Glenn.
Freeland would get things started first when Ty Fournier broke off a 35-yard touchdown run. This gave the Falcons a 6-0 lead and they would hold that lead after one quarter of play.
The Falcons had their offense off and running in the second quarter. Kaden Gernseny picked up a 4-yard scoring run. Freeland would have a little breathing room at 14-0. Fournier would strike again on a 10-yard burst and the Falcons had all the momentum at 22-0. John Glenn would quiet things down a bit, however. Connor Greer would connect with Isiah Hankenson in two plays and this would cut the Falcons lead to 22-6. Freeland would bounce right back on a Jake Metiva 20-yard run. All Falcons after one half of play, 30-6.
They would get the scoring started again to open the half. This time bruising back Eli Murphy picked up a score of his own on a 6-yard run to put the Falcons up 38-6. It would be all Freeland after three quarters of play.
Freeland continued to make some noise in the fourth as Metiva hooked up with Wilson Huckeby on a 37-yard strike to make it a 45-6 game. The Bobcats would end things the right way and give themselves something to look forward to as Gage Forgash capped off a drive on a 4-yard run. It just wouldn’t be enough in Freeland tonight. The Falcons go on to win, 45-12.
John Glenn had their chances at times here. They forced the Falcons into three first half turnovers but couldn’t capitalize. They fall to 2-6 on the year and take on Tecumseh in their regular season finale. The Indians sit at 4-4.
Freeland will move to 7-1 on the season. They were led by Ty Fournier (140 yards, 2 rushing touchdowns) and Eli Murphy (128 yards and 1 touchdown) on the night. The Falcons needed this one as they take on Cros-Lex next week in a big showdown. The Pioneers are 7-1 on the year.
