Swan Valley would come into week 5 riding a 2-game winning streak. After a dominating win over Bridgeport last week, the Vikings would have a chance to grab another at the hands of the Alma Panthers in week 5. Alma would enter at 1-3 on the year, after a tough loss at the hands of Birch Run in week 4.
Swan Valley would jump on the board first in this one. Senior RB Tyler Drain would find his way into the endzone to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead after a successful PAT. This one would head into the 2nd quarter in a tight battle. That’s when Swan Valley would take a complete hold on this one. Swan Valley would take a lead of 34-7 into the half over the hometown Panthers.
It wouldn’t get any better for Alma in the 3rd. Swan Valley would add to their lead to take a 47-14 lead after three. The final quarter would have both teams of the board. Swan Valley would go on to take this one in dominant fasion, 47-14.
Tyler Drain was a man possessed Friday night. He would go to rack up 142 yards on just 13 carries. Quarterback Colton Klein would go 10 of 14 passing for 190 yards and 3 TD’s through the air. He added 30 yard and 2 TD’s on the ground. Sam Wickham would have himself a night. He would have 3 catches for 184 yards, and 2 TD’s. Joey Miller and Jamison Pelt would add a TD apiece on the ground. Drew Kaeckmeister would also add a receiving TD for the Vikings.
Swan Valley improves to 3-2 overall on the year, and they are now 3-1 in TVC play. The Vikings will now have a chance to face a Birch Run team who lost a tough one against Garber on Friday night. Birch Run sits at 3-2 , and 2-2 in the TVC. That’ll be one of the more intriguing games of the week as both teams look to get hot down the back stretch of the 2022 season.
Alma will hope to move on from this one quickly and try and find more of what his given them success on the year. They now sit at 1-4 on the year, and 1-3 in TVC play. They’ll face a Garber team who is coming off one of their best performances of the year. The Dukes will come in at 3-2 overall, and 2-2 in the TVC. The Panthers will look to see if they can spoil Garbers when the two teams battle next Friday.
