The St Louis Sharks, finished with TVC-West II play, faced off with Standish-Sterling in a non-league affair on Friday night. The Panthers, an extremely talented crew, captured a 27-6 victory.
In the first half, Standish-Sterling scored twice. Laine Thibault provided all of the offensive action, with two rushing touchdowns. In the first quarter, it was a 22-yard jaunt. The second quarter saw Thibault reel off a 14-yard touchdown. This gave the Panthers a 14-0 halftime lead.
St Louis got on the scoreboard early in the third quarter. They moved back within a touchdown, as Reece Giles found Michael Baysah on a 20-yard toss. A failed two-point play left the Sharks behind by eight points.
Standish-Sterling would respond later in the quarter, with a third touchdown by Laine Thibault. Thibault would score on a 1-yard plunge in the final frame, giving the Panthers a 21-point victory.
Reece Giles was 11/19 passing for 135 yards and a touchdown. Ignatius Jackson turned sixteen carries into 81 yards. Jackson was also the team’s leading receiver with 40 yards.
Laine Thibault provided the bulk of the Panthers’ offense. He had 27 carries, racking up 191 yards and four scores.
Next week, St Louis will conclude their regular season against Breckenridge. Standish-Sterling will wrap up their campaign against Gladwin.
