The Union Red Hawks started 2021 with a 2-0 record. They have vastly improved as a team, but they faced a tall task in Muskegon on Friday night. The Big Reds were too much a challenge for Union, as Muskegon cruised to a 58-0 victory in OK Green action.
Just thirty-eight seconds into the game, Muskegon got on the scoreboard. Meshaune Crowley powered across the goal line, giving the Big Reds a 7-0 edge. Four minutes later, Crowley found his way back into the end zone. It was a 2-yard touchdown run once again. Myles Walton joined the first quarter scoring parade with a quarterback keeper that went fourteen yards. With thirty seconds left in the quarter, Walton aired it out and found Damari Foster on a 29-yard touchdown strike. This gave Muskegon a 27-0 advantage after twelve minutes.
In the second quarter, the offense continued for the Big Reds. Adrian Ramos-Valazquez booted a 31-yard field goal, his first of the 2021 campaign. Dominic Sugin got into the scoring column when he powered into the end zone from two yards out. Meshaune Crowley’s third touchdown pushed the halftime edge to 44 points.
With the running clock in effect, Muskegon took to the air. Jeremiah Dault caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from M’Khi Guy for the lone score of the third quarter. Alyjuaan Paris capped off the evening with a 41-yard sprint to the end zone.
Muskegon moves to 3-1 on the season. They will square off with Wyoming next Friday. Union now holds an even 2-2 record in 2021. The Red Hawks will look to snap a two-game losing skid against Holland.
