The Comstock Park Panthers are off to a hot start in 2021. That continued in Week 4, as they maintain their undefeated record. They had little trouble with Godwin Heights, recording a 59-18 victory.
In the first quarter, the Panthers scored twice. Tyler DeWitt got things started with a 44-yard sprint to the end zone. Later in the quarter, DeWitt bested his previous run with a 58-yard race across the goal line. A missed extra point left the Parkers’ lead at thirteen points.
Comstock Park would score four times in the second quarter. DeWitt continued his hot start with a 17-yard touchdown run. He would follow that up with touchdown number four, though it came from a pass thrown for 56 yards from Jackson Gates. Gates would toss two more touchdowns in the frame, finding Ethan Gonzalez (16 yards) and Caden Beyerley (40 yards). As a result, Comstock Park held a 40-0 lead at the half.
The running clock was in effect after the half, and neither team scored in the third quarter. Godwin Heights would finally get on the board in the fourth quarter, when Damarie Thompson ran for a 20-yard score. This was the first of three touchdowns for the Wolverines, with the passing attack led by Jeremiah Drake scoring the final two. Jaevon Lyons provided the most exciting highlight with an 85-yard flash. Comstock Park matched Godwin with three fourth quarter touchdowns. Easton Hood scored twice (23 and 59 yards), and Eric Kott capped off the night with a 5-yard plunge.
Comstock Park had 547 yards of offense in the victory. Jackson Gates was 10/18 for 245 yards, and Caden Beyerley hauled in six of those passes for 122 yards. Tyler DeWitt turned seven carries into 134 yards, and Easton Hood made five carries result in 119 yards.
The Panthers are 4-0 for the first time since 2017, when they last won a playoff game. They will look to move to 5-0 for the first time since 2013 when they face Hopkins next Friday. With this defeat, Godwin is now 2-2 on the year. They are looking for an opponent for next week.
