Cornerstone Holiday Tournament Update
The Cornerstone Holiday Tournament started today with a game between Kent City and Kalamazoo Christian. Spearheaded by a 22-3 second quarter, Kent City rolled to a 79-33 victory. Kenzie Bowers led Kent City with a 12/20 day to score 31 points. In defeat, Avery Ekkens and Carley Broekhuizen scored nine points each to lead Kalamazoo Christian.
The Scots split their two games this week to enter Christmas break with a 2-4 record. On Tuesday night, Caledonia defeated Covenant Christian in a 50-37 contest. On Friday, they battled against South Christian. Caledonia took a 24-13 halftime lead, but they were unable to hold on. They fell in defeat 49-44. Abby Mitchell led Caledonia in scoring with 17 points. On January 7, they’re back in action against Middleville.
Central Montcalm (4-1)
The Hornets played their best game of the year on both ends against a tough Newaygo Lions team. Bailey Vissman was the leading scorer for the Hornets with 14, while Maia Sexton added a career high 11 points to go along with nine rebounds. London Eldridge also finished in double digits, with 10 points and nine rebounds. The Hornets are back in action on January 3 against Fruitport Calvary Christian at Cornerstone University.
Forest Hills Central (3-2)
The Rangers started their week with a 58-37 victory over Grandville on Tuesday night. On Friday night, they fell against East Kentwood, a tough opponent. The Rangers are now off until December 26, when they will take on Grand Rapids Christian at the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament.
The Wildcats have now completed a fourth of their season, and they have not registered a victory yet. On Tuesday, they battled in a tough defeat against the Wyoming Wolves. On Friday, they struggled to score in a 55-18 loss to Muskegon Mona Shores. The team will take a break until January 7, when they will hit the road to face off against East Kentwood.
The Rams continue their hot start with a victory in their one game this week. On Tuesday, they battled a tough Mona Shores Sailors team, ultimately pulling out a 49-46 victory. Coldwater will be the next opponent for Rockford, as the two teams will face off on December 27 in the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament.
South Christian (2-3)
The Sailors only had one game this week, taking on Caledonia. Addyson VanSolkema led South Christian with 17 points, including 13 in the second half. Ellie Vink also had a strong second half, scoring all 12 of her points in the second half. Sidney Vis also scored 10 points and 9 points in the victory. South Christian is off for the holidays, back in action on January 10 against Wyoming.
The Vikings split their two games this week. On Monday, they destroyed Blanchard Montabella from the opening tip in a 64-22 victory. The next day, they lost to Morley Stanwood 62-44, a tough road trip. Tri-County is now off until January 7, when they will face off against Lakeview.
