The Greenfield Hustlin’ Hawks concluded their season on Friday against New Berlin Eisenhower. These two teams met back in Week 2 in a scheduled regular season game, and that was a 49-7 Lions victory. This time, Greenfield played Ike much closer, but they were unable to get on the board, falling 21-0.

In the first quarter, Eli Hoelke scored the first touchdown of the game for the Lions. He ran it in from a yard out to give New Berlin Eisenhower a seven point lead. This was the lone scoring play in the first half. The fourth quarter saw Ike extend their lead with a pair of scores. Gabe Siefert took to the air and found Ben Buechel for a nine yard passing touchdown. They put this game out of reach when Hoelke ran for his second touchdown of the night later in the fourth.

Seifert finished the game with 119 yards passing and thirty yards rushing. Ben Buechel hauled in eight of Siefert’s nine completions. He racked up 105 yards and the fourth quarter touchdown. Eli Hoelke had a strong rushing day as he had 110 yards and two touchdowns on fourteen carries.

Chris Lopez led the passing game with 61 yards. Alex Boyko was the leading rusher with twelve carries for forty yards, and he also hauled in an interception. Skyler Gill-Howard had eight tackles in this game, including two tackles for loss.

Greenfield finished this season with a 3-6 record. The improvement showed by Greenfield in comparison to the Week 2 matchup proved how much the team had grown in the final seven weeks of the season. Their offense had more yards of offense in the second matchup, including over eighty additional rushing yards. Defensively, they held Ike to fewer yards and points. The Hustlin’ Hawks lost a pair of games by three points or less this year, and those served as the differences between making and missing the postseason.

New Berlin Eisenhower now sits at 8-1 on the year, so they have qualified for the WIAA playoffs. Their playoff matchup will be announced this weekend. We will be providing matchup information for the WIAA playoffs once they are announced, and our team will cover select games throughout the postseason.
