The Freeland Falcons are headed to the postseason for the twelfth straight season. Needing to win one of their final two games, the Falcons took care of business in routine fashion on Friday night. They started hot and their victory was never truly in jeopardy, as they rolled to a 40-18 win.

Trey Morgan got the show going for Freeland as he ran three yards for the first touchdown of the night. This capitalized on a fumble recovery forced by the Freeland defense. On their next drive, they just took one play to score as Bryson Huckeby went to the air and found Ben Wellnitz for a fifty yard touchdown pass. Before the first quarter ended, Freeland pushed their lead to twenty points when Huckeby and Morgan connected for a fourteen yard touchdown pass.

In the second quarter, Freeland struck again. Elijah Vlassis capped off a seven play drive with a three yard touchdown run. Bridgeport was able to get on the board when they covered eighty yards in thirteen plays. They scored on a seven yard touchdown run by Ameer Picketts. Freeland was able to respond with another touchdown before halftime. Aiden West ran it in from a yard out to give Freeland a 34-6 halftime lead.

Jacob Kundinger kept the party going for Freeland’s offense when he ran in a touchdown from two yards out to push the lead to thirty-four. Bridgeport was able to score twice in the fourth quarter, but the game was too far out of reach. Chaun Tolbert ran thirty nine yards for a score and Al’Jay Pipkins ran four yards for another touchdown. This brought the Bearcats within the final margin of twenty two points.

Freeland is now 6-2, and they are into the playoffs in two weeks. They will finish the regular season next week against Chippewa Hills. For Bridgeport, they are 1-7 in 2019. Their season concludes next week when they face Bullock Creek.
