The Swan Valley Vikings and Freeland Falcons met on Friday night in a matchup of teams tied for second place in the TVC-Central. While many of us at MSR expected this to be a fantastic back and forth affair, we got quite the opposite. Swan Valley scored the first 45 points in this game en route to a 45-6 victory.

Three minutes into this game, Avery Goldensoph started the scoring with a one yard touchdown run for the Vikings. Just four minutes later, Goldensoph would toss an eight yard pass to Ethan Champney for another score. Before the first quarter ended, Swan Valley extended their lead to 21-0 when the same pair connected on a 64 yard deep ball.

In the second quarter, Swan Valley continued to extend their lead. Andrew Rousseau broke off a thirteen yard run with a minute and a half left in the half to move the lead to 28-0. Right before the teams entered the locker room, the Vikings were able to tack on another three points when Easton Goldensoph converted a 30 yard field goal. This game them a 31-0 halftime lead.

Swan Valley got the running clock into effect late in the third quarter. Rousseau weaved through the Falcons defense for a 36 yard touchdown run. They would get one more touchdown, a one yard run by senior lineman Carson Berenyi in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter. Freeland was able to get on the board when Easton Armstrong ran 27 yards into the end zone.

The Vikings are now 5-2 on the season and 5-1 in conference play. They will try to lock in a playoff spot when they take on Essexville Garber next week. For Freeland, they also slide to 5-2 on the year. Their pursuit of the postseason will continue next week when the Falcons square off against Bridgeport.
