The final home game of the year for the Trojans of Middleville Thornapple Kellogg would not finish the way the seniors on the team had hoped. The East Grand Rapids Pioneer defense wouldn’t mind spoiling senior night, on their way to a 35-0 victory. That’s not to say that the East Offense had stayed on the bus. The offense would end the night with nearly 400 yards of production, as their defensive teammates would hold the Trojans to just under 150 total yards.

East took the lead in the final seconds of the 1st quarter as Robbie Stuursma found Davis Jennings from 3 yards away. The Pioneers would score once more before the halftime break. the air attack would again prove successful as David Lime connected with Jack Mundell. East Grand Rapids would take a 14-0 halftime lead into the locker room.

The 2nd half would see the Pioneers push the ball across the goal line 3 more times. John Shelton IV would score twice from 6 and 5 yards away. Stuursma would also use his legs to score from 2 yards out. Shelton would finish the night with 25 carries, 189 yards, and 2 touchdowns.

The defense for the Pioneers would be the big difference in this game. Oasis Ackermann, Aiden McCahill, and Noah Moskal, just to name a few made the Trojan offense struggle to move the ball. East would also recover 3 fumbles.

The win for the Pioneers improves their record to 5-2 (4-0) and sets up a big game next week against GR Christian who have the same record. The loss for T/K moves their record to 3-4 (2-3). They will travel to play GR South Christian next week.
