The Tri-County Vikings were celebrating homecoming on Friday night when the Grant Tigers came to town. Six turnovers doomed the Vikings in this one, and they were unable to overcome these mistakes in a 33-6 defeat.

Tri-County scored the first touchdown of this game just three minutes in. Nick Braunschneider got the Vikings on the board with a big run of 45 yards to put them ahead 6-0. They would hold this lead through the first quarter of play. Braunschneider finished this game 13/27 for 223 yards, but he had four interceptions. He did add 33 yards rushing and the touchdown on 10 carries to lead Tri-County as well.

Grant got on the board with a six yard touchdown run by Brendan Keelean. Just seventeen seconds of game time later, they scored once more on a touchdown run by Billy Ostyn from 16 yards out. This gave the Tigers a 14-6 lead that they would hold until the fourth quarter of play.

In the final quarter of the game, Grant was able to extend their lead. Ostyn broke free and ran through the Vikings’ defense for a 23 yard touchdown. Just moments later, Ostyn addded a 21 yard touchdown to his stat sheet. He was the star in this one, finishing with three touchdowns. Before things were finished, Max Klumper found the end zone from 17 yards out. Grant had favorable field position on many of their drives tonight as a result of the six forced turnovers, but they put together a strong night running the football.

Tri-County now falls to 2-3 on the season, and they are 1-3 in league play as they are on a three game slide. Next week, they will have a tough game against the Newaygo Lions. For Grant, they are 3-2 on the year and 2-2 in the CSAA-Gold. Their next conference matchup will take place against the Fremont Packers next Friday night.
