The Wildcats of Northview struggled last week in their defeat against Cedar Springs. This week, they were able to rebound in a big way against OK White foe Ottawa Hills. Their offense found the end zone all night long in a 52-16 victory.
Ja’Kaurie Kirkland broke off a 14 yard touchdown run to get things going for Northview early. They would double that lead when Kyler Vanderjagt was able to haul in a touchdown catch. A Daniel Frey quarterback sneak pushed the lead to 21-0 for Northview. Vanderjagt and Frey would connect again for a score, this time from 44 yards. A field goal would push the lead to 31-0 at the half for Northview.
This game was all but decided at this point, but the Bengals showed strong resolve. They scored two touchdowns, while only being outscored by five in the second half. Ottawa Hills has improved vastly since even last season, and they are poised to give some teams a challenge in the OK White.
Northview is now 3-1 on the season, and they will take on Forest Hills Central next week. The Bengals fall to 1-3 on the year, and they will take on Greenville in week 5.
