The Rockford Rams’ defense had played tremendously well in their first two games, holding explosive offenses to a total of 21 points. This week, they continued this trend of dominance, holding the West Ottawa Panthers to just six points. The Rams offensively were able to move the ball and score at will in the 48-6 victory.
Brad Rohenblanton started the scoring for Rockford, as he broke off a 69 yard touchdown run on the first series of the game for the Rams. Early in the second quarter, they were able to extend their lead to 14 points on a Jaden Friesen three-yard touchdown run. The third Rams touchdown of the first half came on a 42 yard run by Eli Haddad. West Ottawa was able to score their lone touchdown of the game in the second quarter when Jake Zimmer ran it in from nine yards out. This meant that Rockford would take a 21-6 halftime lead.
Ethan Nash set the tone for Rockford in the second half. He scored the first touchdown of the half on a 19 yard run. Moments later, he would run 32 yards for a touchdown. He also made a large impact on special teams, as his large punt return led to a Jackson Moseley touchdown late in the third quarter. The running clock slowed the Rams down in the fourth quarter, but Grant Bisbee was able to score from ten yards out to give Rockford the 48-6 edge.
With the win, Rockford is now 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the OK Red. They step out of league play next week for a huge matchup against Mona Shores. For West Ottawa, things have continued to spiral in their 0-3 start. Next week does not get any easier as East Kentwood is on the schedule, and the Falcons have looked strong in their first three games.
