Owen Burke is one of the premier players in West Michigan once again this season, starring for his dad’s Allendale Falcons. He showed everyone this once more on Friday night in their OK Blue opener against Coopersville. He scored five times in a blowout win over the Broncos.

Coopersville started this game on the right foot as Joe Keefe went two yards for the touchdown to give the Broncos a 7-0 lead. This would not last for long as Burke ran 25 yards through the defense to give Allendale the 8-7 edge after the first quarter of play.

It was Burke once again to start things in the second quarter, as he ran 82 yards for a touchdown. He would tack on another 55 yard run to give Allendale a 21-7 advantage. Before the half ended, Allendale scored on a seven yard run by DiPiazza. This gave the Falcons a 28-7 lead entering halftime.

In the third quarter, it was Burke twice more. He went 40 yards on the first score, and 31 on the second to push the lead to 41-7 Allendale. The final score of the game came by Nick Hobbins, who ran 52 yards through the Broncos’ defense to give Allendale the 47-7 advantage.

Owen Burke had just eight carries in this game, but he was able to run for 262 yards and five touchdowns. He also threw three passes, completing two for ten yards. The Falcons are 2-1 now on the season, and Comstock Park will be tasked with slowing down Burke next week. Coopersville is now 0-3 on the season, and they have struggled offensively. This is the second time in three games they have scored seven or less points. They will try to right the ship next week against Spring Lake.
