The Rockford Rams won in large part due to their offensive play in Week 1 against Grand Rapids Christian. This week, it was their defense that set the tone in their 27-7 victory over Lowell.

In the first quarter, Rockford scored the lone touchdown. They scored as a result of a 70 yard touchdown run by Ethan Nash, putting them ahead 7-0. They would double their lead on a last second toss from Chris Corey to Bradley Rohenblanton from 11 yards out. This gave Rockford more than even points to win this contest, heading into the locker room up by fourteen.

Lowell would make their run at this one with a touchdown early in the third quarter. Brett Spanbauer punched it in from one yard out to bring the lead down to 14-7. This would be their only scoring drive the entire night. Rockford would finish the game scoring the final ten points in this one. Teagan Lenderink showed off his impressive boot for the second straight week, as he kicked a 41 yard field goal with some room to spare. Before things were done, Jaiden Friesen found the end zone for the first time on the night with a fifteen yard run to extend the lead to its final margin of 20 points.

Rockford’s defense was stout throughout this whole night. They not only held Lowell to seven points, but they made many key stops along the way. One of those key stops was when the Rams forced Lowell to turn the ball over on downs from their 7 yard line. This was pivotal to sealing the victory for Rockford.

This is the second straight season that Rockford has defeated Lowell, and the first time they have started 2-0 since 2014. Next week, Rockford will look to start 3-0 when OK Red play begins against West Ottawa. For Lowell, they are now 1-1 on the season. They will take on Greenville in their OK White opener next Friday night.
