The Swan Valley Vikings had a tough Week 1 loss to Cedar Springs, but they had to shake it off quickly as TVC-Central play started in Week 2 against Bridgeport. They wasted no time in getting the ball rolling in this contest, scoring the first 28 points of the game in a 49-12 blowout victory over the Bearcats.
Avery Goldensoph connected with Ethan Champney late in the first quarter to get the scoring started for the Vikings with an eleven yard touchdown. They would strike three times in the second quarter to blow this lead wide open. First, it was Khyree Harris, who ran it in from five yards out for the score. Then, it was Goldensoph again, as he took to the air and found Trent Alworden on a big 61 yard pass for the score. Finally, it was Andrew Rousseau from two yards out to extend the lead to 28-0. Before the half was over, Bridgeport was able to find the end zone when Na’Varion Sangster recovered a fumble and took it to the end zone to trim the deficit to 21.
In the third quarter, it was more Swan Valley. Goldensoph and Champney connected from five yards out to extend the lead out to 35-6. After the defense forced a punt, Gavin Duel blocked the punt and it was scooped up by Ben Fordney in the end zone to make it 42-6.
The fourth quarter saw another Swan Valley touchdown when Miekael Brooker ran 29 yards to the end zone for a score. Bridgeport would score one more touchdown when Darnell Jackson broke a 70 yard touchdown run. This would lead to the game’s final score of 49-12.
Swan Valley is now 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the TVC-Central. Next week, league play continues when they take on Birch Run. For Bridgeport, they are now 0-2 and 0-1 in league play. They will try to get their first win of the season when they take on Frankenmuth.
