On Friday night Tri-County began their season against Lakeview. They were scheduled to kick off on Thursday, before the weather pushed it back to a Friday night contest. This game was all but over after a great first half performance by Tri-County. They scored 14 points in the first quarter, while adding 21 more in the second. The Vikings earned a big 35-0 win to start their season, in large part due to a big night from quarterback Nicholas Braunschneider.
In the first quarter, the Vikings started the scoring off with a five-yard touchdown run from Braunschneider. Later in the first quarter, Braunschneider would throw a 35 yard touchdown pass to Cameron Friend to make it 14-0.
In the second quarter, the Vikings continued to roll offensively. Braunschneider would run for a pair of touchdowns, from 28 and 41 yards respectively, to make it 28-0. Before the half was done, he would pass for his 5th total touchdown of the game, this time connecting with Cameron Friend, his second touchdown of the night.
The biggest story line of this game was Tri County taking advantage of Lakeview’s mistakes. The Vikings defense played tremendous, forcing three fumbles and one interception. These spring boarded the offense to many of their points on Friday night. The Vikings (1-0) will move on to face Big Rapids (0-1) next week on September 6th at 7:00 PM, in a game that will be broadcast LIVE on Michigan Sports Radio.
