DIVISION 1 QUARTERFINAL: Okemos 50 East Kentwood 45

The Chiefs and the Falcons met in Caledonia on Tuesday night, and they treated a packed house to a phenomenal game. A double-double for Evan Thomas, 22 points and 10 rebounds, was enough to spearhead Okemos to victory. It was a good run for Kentwood, who had an up and down 11-9 regular season before embarking on a five-game playoff winning streak to get to tonight’s quarterfinal. For Okemos, their season continues to be a magical one. They are now 23-2 on the season, and they advance to Friday’s Division 1 Semifinals. They will take on perennial state power UD Jesuit, who enters the game with an equally impressive 24-2 mark. The Cubs defeated Roseville 91-54 in the quarterfinals.

DIVISION 2 QUARTERFINAL: Unity Christian 71 South Christian 45

The Crusaders and the Sailors met at Calvin College in front of a sell-out crowd for a berth in the state semifinals. They both were playing some of the best basketball in the area, winning seventeen straight contests entering the game, but you never would have guessed that after the ball had tipped. The Saders blitzed South Christian and dominated in a 26 point victory to earn a trip to the Breslin Center. The first quarter was close, as Unity Christian held just a six-point lead. The next two quarters were the most pivotal for Unity to assert their dominance, as they outscored South Christian 35-19. Inside play was key for the Crusaders as they outscored South 36-16. They also took advantage of turnovers, turning them into twenty points. Three players for Unity Christian finished in double digits, led by Noah Wiswary with 15. Ryan Takens finished with 14, and TJ VanKoevering finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. Peyton Vis led South Christian with 13 points. Unity Christian will now take on Ludington at 5:30 Friday in the semifinals. The Orioles advanced to the semifinals with a 14-10 record after defeating Alma 65-32.

DIVISION 4 QUARTERFINAL: Tri-Unity 62 Belleville 31

The Defenders are headed back to Breslin Center after a blowout victory over Belleville in Charlotte on Tuesday. They doubled up the Broncos, and they now find themselves two wins away from the State Championship. They will take on 20-5 Frankfort on Thursday at 7:30 for a bid in the finals. Frankfort advanced to the Breslin Center with a 53-51 overtime victory over Big Rapids Crossroads. The other side of the bracket pits Dollar Bay (21-4) and Southfield Christian (19-6).
