The Grand Rapids Christian Eagles hockey team went on the road on Wednesday, and squared off with the Mona Shores Sailors. Fresh off of a strong weekend in Trenton that saw wins over Hancock and Flint Powers, the Eagles continued their winning ways on Wednesday night. From the opening faceoff, they controlled this game. They scored three unanswered goals in the first period, and outscored Mona Shores 5-2 the remainder of the way in an 8-2 blowout win.

In this one, the Eagles peppered the net with a remarkable 31 shots. Benjamin Bultema led the way with seven shots for Grand Rapids Christian, but he also scored a goal in this one. It’s Bultema’s seventh of the season. Jake Noordewier added to his scoring total, bringing his goal count up to five. Jack Zwiers got his eighth goal of the season, and Tanner Fisher lit the lamp for the first time this season on Wednesday night. Two Eagles finished the game with two goals, Graham Kormash and Joey Hildebrand. For Kormash, he continues to lead the team in goals with 14. Hildebrand is now up to five goals on the season.

The eight goals tallied up an impressive ten assists. Bultema, Kormash and Zwiers each got a pair of assists in this one, but they were outdone by Joey Hildebrand. His big five-point night saw him record three assists to go along with those two goals. He now sits at 13 points on the season. The tenth assist came from Alex Singh, his second of the year.

This victory brings the Eagles record to 10-8-1 on the season, and they are now riding a three-game winning streak. If you include the tie against East Grand Rapids, the Eagles are unbeaten in their last five games. They are back in action at home on Friday night when they welcome FHNE to Eagles Ice Center. This contest is set to take place at 8:00, and it is a key conference matchup.
