The high school football regular season is one third of the way complete. Some teams are halfway to clinching a playoff berth, others have their backs against the wall, and the rest are trying to figure out what their bunch is made of. The Week 3 coverage finishes with the Core Power Performance Impact Players of the Week.


Cameron Martinez (Muskegon): The Big Reds got a big win on the road against East Grand Rapids on Friday. Martinez led the charge under center for the Big Reds as he rushed 19 times for 176 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw his first passing touchdown of the year from 38 yards.


James Gilbert (Mona Shores): The Sailors defeated Reeths-Puffer, and Gilbert had a tremendous day on the receiving end. Quarterback Caden Broersma only completed six passes, and five of them went to Gilbert. He hauled in these five balls for 224 yards and three touchdowns.


Kionte Blakely (East Kentwood): The Falcons rolled over Caledonia 56-20 in their OK Red opener. Blakely spearheaded the offensive outburst with ten carries for 269 yards and six touchdowns.


Owen Burk (Allendale): The Falcons won for the second straight week on the back of Burk, this time over Coopersville. The tailback scored five rushing touchdowns, including a pair in the fourth quarter.


Tanner Ching (Tri-County): The Vikings won their second game of the year, this time against Chippewa Hills 12-0. Ching led the charge on the offensive side when he rushed 30 times for 130 yards and both touchdowns.


Wilson Wirebaugh (Holland Christian): The Maroons fell to Unity Christian but Wirebaugh had a tremendous performance. He threw for 380 yards and accounted for five touchdowns, four of which came running the football.


Zach Patin (West Catholic): The Falcons got back in the win column for the first time this year against Comstock Park. Patin was explosive rushing and receiving the football in this victory. He recorded 14 carries for 215 yards and three touchdowns to go along with two catches for 70 yards and a touchdown.
