The Eagles of Hudsonville began their 2018 season against a pair of schools from the CAAC Conference. After knocking off Grand Ledge last week, they hosted the Rams of Holt in a Week 2 affair. Despite falling behind early in this one, the Eagles were able to play a strong last three quarters to win the contest 30-14, scoring 30 unanswered to end the game.

In the first quarter, the game was dominated by the Rams. After Logan VanEnkenvort started the scoring with a three-yard run, they got a key interception on the defensive end. David Bouck was on the receiving end of a 22-yard toss to extend the Holt lead to 14 after twelve minutes of action.

The final three quarters of play were then all controlled by Hudsonville, as they won them 30-0. Josh Dykstra started the scoring for the Eagles with a 23-yard field goal. Near the end of the quarter, Josh Mera and Brennen Hays connected on a 38-yard touchdown through the air to trim the deficit to just four entering the locker room.

Garrett Rice controlled the scoring in the third quarter as he scored a pair of touchdowns. He first punched it in from a yard out, before following it up with a five yard touchdown run four minutes later to give the Eagles a 24-14 lead.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Mason Piper ran it in from four yards out to extend the lead to sixteen points. This would be the final margin of the contest. With the win the Eagles improve to 2-0 on the season. They begin OK Red play next week on the road at Grand Haven.
