The Caledonia Fighting Scots travelled to Cedar Springs on Thursday night fresh off of their Week 1 win against Holt. Cedar Springs lost a close game in their opener to Swan Valley, so both teams entered with opposite records. Running their trademark Wing T offense, the Red Hawks racked up 335 yards rushing in a 46-7 win that they controlled from the start.

On their first drive, the Red Hawks marched down the field before Ethan West broke a 23-yard run for a score to take the 8-0 lead. The ensuing drive saw Caledonia respond as Drew Kuzava scored a four yard touchdown three minutes into the second quarter. This drew the game to 8-7, the closest it would be all night.

Cedar Springs scored the next 38 points in this contest through a barrage of runs and well-timed play action passes. Lucas Pienton had a pair of second quarter touchdowns, a 59 yard run and a twenty-five yard reception. The reception came right before the half as Caledonia tossed an interception that was returned to the 30. The Pienton reception was also the second touchdown scored in the final minute of the half as a result of the interception.

The Red Hawks scored a pair of touchdowns in the second half and Ethan West and Zak Schmid found the end zone from 44 and 10 yards respectively. The Red Hawks had a trio of rushers eclipse the fifty yard mark. Ethan West racked up 102 yards, Lucas Pienton had 99 yards and Sage Serbenta had 50.

With the loss, Caledonia drops to 1-1. They begin OK Red play next week as they host East Kentwood. Cedar Springs, also 1-1, begins their OK White season as they travel to Northview.
