The Coopersville Broncos and Hamilton Hawkeyes squared off in Week 2 action. These two played a back and forth affair all night long that eventually resulted in the Broncos pulling ahead for good late in the third quarter as they won 35-27.
Coopersville started the scoring as Connor Helson ran it in from twenty-three yards out. Shortly after, Fischer Grady was on the receiving end of a 51 yard touchdown pass from Marcus Mcillwain to even the score at seven.
The Hawkeyes would take the lead in this one as Tyler Stezowski punched it in from three yards out to give Hamilton a 13-7 lead.
This lead was short-lived as Coopersville would score on two consecutive drives. The first drive resulted in a fourteen yard run by Cayden Schneider. Owen Syrek capped off the second drive with a nine-yard reception from Joe Keefe to put the Broncos ahead 21-13. Just thirty seconds later, Hamilton would even the score when Stezowski rushed it in from seven yards out and the Hawkeyes converted the two-point try knotting it up at 21 headed to the locker room.
To open the second half, Hamilton got a huge run by Marcus Mcilwain as he ran 57 yards for a touchdown. Coopersville responded on their next drive marching the length of the field before Joe Keefe punched it in fron two yards out. The extra point put Coopersville ahead 28-27.
Cayden Schneider’s 68 yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter would seal the deal as Coopersville would win 35-27. He finished with 18 carries for 160 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Joe Keefe finished the game 14 of 25 with 157 yards and two touchdowns through the air, as well as 62 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Noah Exton and Sam Glass led the Coopersville defense with eight tackles.
