The high school basketball season is in full swing, and the Michigan Sports Radio crew is continuing its coverage of some of the area’s top games each week. The legendary Dave Van Noord hit the road on Friday night to cover the Grand Rapids Christian Eagles as they took on Forest Hills Eastern. The dynamic duo of Dave Princer and Maisy Nielsen continued following the Tri-County Vikings basketball season this past week as they faced Stanton Central Montcalm. Highlights of these games can be found below:

Stanton Central Montcalm 78 Tri-County 68

The Vikings hosted SCM on last Tuesday with hopes of snapping their winless streak to open the season. For just the fourth time all season, Tri-County kept the game within ten points or fewer, but unfortunately the could not get over the hump. They lose their ninth straight game to open the year by a final of 78-68.

Leading the way for SCM was Jared Ledford who scored 19 points on just 3/5 shooting (he hit 10/13 free throws). Just a point shy of his total was Gideon Scott, who hit three three-pointers on his way to an eighteen point night.

Bryce Hallman had another strong night for the Vikings, as he has 28 points in this defeat. He shot 47% from the floor including hitting four three-pointers to lead the way. CJ Hornack (14) and Nick Poprawksi (11) also reached double figures for Tri-County.

Grand Rapids Christian 57 Forest Hills Eastern 53 (OT)

The Eagles of Grand Rapids Christian have now clawed their way into the Remax-United Power Poll, but they needed to escape a close call against FHE last Friday night. After a grind of a first quarter in which GRC led 8-7, the offenses began to click on both sides throughout the remaining twenty-four minutes of regulation. An 8-4 edge in overtime would prove to be the deciding factor in this one as the Eagles improve to 9-2 on the year and 6-0 in the OK Gold.

For FHE, they were led by Soloman White who scored 17 points. Nick Hakken (15) and Kade Kruger (10) also cracked double-figures for the Hawks, who now sit at 5-7 on the year, including a 1-5 conference mark.

Grand Rapids Christian was led by Seth Millner Jr, who contributed 27 points in the win. Trey McBride also made a huge contribution for the Eagles off the bench, as he hit three huge three-point field goals in the second half.
