On Friday night, the Eagles of Kent City hit the road to take on the Wildcats of Montague. This was a battle of undefeated teams vying for a district title. There was a bit of added incentive for Montague was eliminated by Kent City a season ago in the first round of districts. -Montague got a strong start in this one, and they had no problem protecting their home turf with a 37-13 victory.
Leading the way for Montague on the rushing attack was Bryce Stark. He totaled twenty carries on the ground, racking up 221 yards. Sebastian Archer also racked up seven carries for forty-two yards as the Wildcats rushed for 302 yards in the win. Archer, the quarterback, also had a strong night throwing the ball as he was 9/12 for 127 yards. The leading receiver for Montague was Jacob Jancek as she hauled in four places for 82 yards.
In the loss, Kent City was led on the ground by Gio Weeks. He took fourteen carries and turned them into sixty-seven yards. Quarterback John Meek had a low passing night as he threw for 41 yards on 4/7 passing.
With the win, Montague advances to next week’s regional finals. They will hit the road to take on Ithaca, who is now 11-0 after a 56-7 victory on Friday night against Laingsburg.
