The Tri-County Vikings and the Kent City Eagles faced off on Friday night in the finale of the regular season for both teams. For Tri-County, it was the final game for their seniors, while Kent City was going for their first undefeated season since 1975. In a close game early, the Eagles eventually pulled away in a 47-19 win.
Bryce Hallman attempted 13 passes for Tri-County, completing five of them for 51 yards. Ethan Rose was the leading rusher for the Vikings with 25 yards on three carries.
For Kent City, they were led on the ground by Gio Weeks, who had twenty-one carries for 112 yards. Quarterback John Meek only completed three passes, but it was more than enough for the offense.
With the win, Kent City improved to 9-0 on the season, and they will be hosting a playoff game next week against an opponent to be determined on Sunday. For Tri-County, they ended the year 1-8, but showed strong play in a hard-fought season. A special shoutout to Dave Princer and Maisy Nielsen on great broadcasts throughout 2017.
