The OK Blue conference schedule started on Friday night, and two teams that tied for the 2016 championship faced off in the opener. Catholic Central and Allendale, whom also tied with West Catholic for the league title, faced off at Catholic Central. The game started as a back-and-forth contest, but the Cougars used a strong second quarter to springboard to a 56-18 win.

In the first quarter, Allendale struck first as Tanner Morren scored on a 75-yard pass just twelve seconds into the game. It would only take Catholic sixty seconds to respond though, as Alec Winden ran 42 yards through the Falcon defense for a touchdown and the 7-6 lead. At the halfway point of the first quarter, Luke Ambrose gave Allendale the lead back on a 44 yard run. This lead was once again short lived as Erik Grabow scored from nine yards out to give Catholic the 14-12 lead.

The second quarter was an impressive display of scoring for Catholic Central as they scored 35 points in 12 minutes. At the 10:34 mark, Grabow scored his second touchdown of the night, this one from 34 yards out to push the lead to nine. Winden would contribute his second touchdown just a couple minutes later to balloon the margin to sixteen. The Cougars were not done though, as Nate Trudeau returned the punt 35 yards to the end zone. Nolan Fugate and Erik Grabow would each record another touchdown in the final minutes of the half, and the Cougars entered the locker room with a very comfortable 49-12 lead.

Both teams would score once in the third quarter, but it had no effect on the outcome in this one, a 38-point Catholic Central victory. With the win, the Cougars improve to 3-0 on the season, 1-0 in the OK Blue. Next week, they will be back in action as they host Forest Hills Eastern in non-conference play. For Allendale, they drop to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the Blue, and they have a huge contest at home against Comstock Park next Friday night.
