In week two of the high school football season, the Vikings of Tri-County hosted Stanton Central Montcalm in the first game of CSAA-Gold play. Despite leading for a majority of this contest, the Vikings were unable to win this contest, falling 30-26.
Offensively for Tri-County, they were led in the passing game by quarterback Cayden Luchies, who threw for ninety-five yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Tanner Ching had another strong week, finishing with 25 carries for 177 yards and three touchdowns. In addition to this strong play offensively, Ching also had a pair of interceptions.
For Stanton Central Montcalm, they rushed for 263 yards as a team. Their leading rusher was CJ Denman who finished with 161 yards, two touchdowns, and a two-point conversion. Blake Ryan also added 72 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Tri-County falls to 0-2 with the loss, and they also sit at 0-1 in CSAA-Gold play. Next week, they will continue league play as they travel to Big Rapids.
