The Freeland Falcons for the second consecutive year have been crowned the Tri Valley Conference-Central Champions. Also for the second straight season, the Falcons earned the championship title without losing a league game, extending their league winning streak to sixteen games. Tonight’s blowout 53-0 victory over Midland Bullock Creek was very similar to the other six wins, a lot of running and a stout defense.

Freeland’s defense pitched their first shutout of the season, but they have been phenomenal throughout the entirety of the regular season to date. The Falcon defense has allowed just 9.6 points per game in TVC-Central play, with no more than nineteen points to any single opponent.

On offense, the Falcons averaged 35.1 points per game in league action, and they topped the half-century mark twice (tonight and the September 9 win over Carrollton). The rushing attack has been stellar all season as Gahret Metina has led the charge, but there have been a plethora of rushers who have contributed. Tonight for example, seven Falcons rushed for their touchdowns, and they have had this scattered success throughout the entire season.

Next week, Freeland will attempt to complete a perfect regular season as they take on Frankenmuth in a non-conference battle. The Eagles are winners of the Tri-Valley Conference East and will also enter Friday’s battle with an undefeated 8-0 mark. Fortunately for Freeland, they will be at home in the biggest game of the season, a huge preparation for the state playoffs. Friday’s contest will be broadcasted live on MSR and coverage begins at 6:30.
